I'm not sure how many on the thread have access to Gartner Group. I have it at work. Several recent articles from GG re: DBMS vendors. GG basically says ORCL will get the lions share of the market between now and 2002 - this for all types of DB areas. GG blames most of the IFMX lackluster on the fact that they are too little too late to the NT party. That and the faulty vision thing. While you can never tell when GG is right on, they make a compelling argument. Given that I'm long, I hope IFMX proves them wrong.
