The Pump's comments about cable modems not making it except in some scattered and IP never made practical sense although the motivation was crystal clear. Ditto for the continual bashing of IP telephony.

Most reasonable people realized that integrating voice and data over standard network protocols and equipment wasn't going to happen overnight, however, I don't think anybody imagined the speed or magnitude with which this technology would go mainstream. RACE should have known that the protocol changes required to overcome existing IP telephony problems would be quickly designed and implemented owing to the driving force of necessity. The industry cannot afford to move at the glacial speeds of the past. Those who continue to think and react like toe-less, three-toed sloths are doomed to failure.
