I believe I heard something to the effect on CNBC that S&P Index funds couldn't or didn't have to begin adding ASND until July 1. One thing I am quite confident of is that the 30mm or so shares that need to be purchased arent' going to be sucked up in the next 2 days. It will likely be over the course of a couple weeks or more...Does someone have some more info on how this works? I think we will see a good pop to the mid 50's tomorrow and then a more gradual ascension towards 60 over the next few weeks. Lucky me. I bought 50 July 40's on friday. I'm sure I'll never meet with such luck again in the near future. regards, mike

I thought the S&P 500 was weighted based on each company's relative capitalization. If so, ASND wouldn't necessarily comprise 1/500 of the index, would it?

Gary: I think your math needs a little work. Your assumption is that S&P 500 works just like the Dow Jones Ind Index. The 500 stocks are NOT equally invested, but a weighted average based on market capitalization. So Market capitalization of S&P 500 = $8586B ASND's market capitalization = $50187 = $9.4B % of SP500 = 9.4/8586 = .11% .11 $626B = $684M or, about 14 million ASND shares Then add some of the shorts and we still get a big bang. Finally, to insure the rise to 57, we all have to get busy and add 10,000 messages to the thread by Thursday. Ed K. ps. Thank-you Pete for selling you ASND so that it can go up.
