walter, i'm definitely bearish and not bashful ;-) it drives the closet bulls crazy - especially b/c i was right about fundamentals way before they had a clue. actually, i was too generous. mu's disaster is much worse than even i thought it would be.

in any case, you state that mu's death spiral is over. do you care to elaborate? mu buying txn's dram ops doesn't change the macro supply demand economics that has put all the chippies in this perilous position. if you don't change the root cause then you've changed nothing other than deck chairs on the titanic.

seriously, selling more parts to more customers at a loss isn't the solution to what ails mu. i eagerly anticipate your cogent thesis elucidating why this is so great for mu.

btw, mu has 78 tons of inventory sitting in warehouses. they need increased production capacity like they need another hole in their head ;-)

skeets da mu bear call 'em like he sees 'em and everyone else just watches history unveil according to plan...

there will be no long term recovery in 1998.

psst - mu just came off their most profitable period in history and now has little money and lotsa debt. HO HO HO HO HO! ;-)

Walter, I only comment here occassionally, but after your recent "squeeze" posts I have to say something... "Have you been drinking?" This stock is going nowhere but straight to the bottom no matter how loud the band plays. I suggest you grab a brandy and sit at the bar, the water will be cascading over the deck very soon.

walter,

why does buying txn's dram business signal a turnaround for mu?
fundamentally nothing has changed in supply demand equation. prices still falling. asia situation will get worse. when that happens mu will be shipping a dollar bill with every chip. the death spiral as you put it is not over. just another bounce before the next trounce. if mu can somehow buy txn's biz, it just means more debt to service an could spell the end of what would be the last u.s. dram mfg in probably less than two years. im not sure how much cash they have now.

Walter,

You have guts looking the bear straight in the face and telling him not to short. I think we ought to give you the nickname of "Davy Crockett"<g>

If you had been following this thread for two years you would have heard these foreverbears saying the same thing over and over and over again...4mb chips are going down in price, 16mb chips are going down in price, 64mb chips are going down in price...

...and they have been right...of course the bulls have also said this and both sides have been right...but what the bears have also been saying since 2 years ago is that MU will be in the single digits, 18 months ago MU will be in single digits, 12 months ago Mu will be in single digits ...and well they are still saying that it should be in single digits and now after earnings this time, for sure MU will be in single digits. WHEW !

Their story hasn't changed for 2 years and MU has gone up and down for the past 2 years and it is pretty much around the same price. So again the bears will wait until after this earnings report on JUNE 16 to see if MU plunges into the single digits.

I will say this, the bears are no more or less accurate then the collection of all the analysts out there.... but certainly more fun to play with.<VBG>

Davy, Davy Crockett....kil'd him a bar when he was only three.

Good Luck Trading
