Techie, we're bothered by your posts because you fail to cite ANY factual data to support your argument. There are people on this thread that say the same things that you do, but they also attempt to support their statements with relevant data.

I would be happy to have a debate with you over facts, but you don't have any. You "feel" that DELL is overvalued, but you can't tell any of us why that may be true (in factual terms). Instead, you tell us to go find those facts on our own. We have looked, and haven't found this mysterious data that you cite. If it exists, we REALLY want to know. If it doesn't, then perhaps you need to quit wasting our time.

The more you post, the less informed on THIS stock you appear to be. I challenge you to make yourself be informed.

<<3, if you all feel so comfortable with a long position in your Dell stock, why are you bothered by my posts? If me telling the truth as I see it is an attempt to drive the price down, no doubt the numerous posts about the UNANNOUNCED upcoming splits are an attempt to con some people into buying.>>

The truth as you see it is actually your opinion, it would seem to me. Your inability or unwillingness to provide a URL to any analyst reports supporting you earlier assertion tends to indicate you have no actual factual basis to go on.

We bulls are bothered by your posts not because we are personally disturbed by or believe them, but because other people read the posts on this board and are influenced in their decisions by what they read here. (One should read these posts for informational value only, no substitute for due diligence)

So, if someone comes on here with an outrageous allegation, we have an obvious interest in quickly finding evidence to reveal the truth.

Nothing personal here. If you have hard evidence, I'd like to see it, but if you don't, come to expect the kind of response you're getting now.

Regards,

Stephen

re if you all feel so comfortable with a long position in your Dell stock, why are you bothered by my posts?

Actually, Techie, I hope that DELL does go down short term, so I can close some covered calls cheaply. But I am still a LONG-TERM DELL bull.

So why am I bothered? The point is simply this: there are a lot of people who read this thread and invest in DELL. Many of them are relatively new to doing personal investing; some may have significant portions of their entire capital base 'at risk'.

As I see it, one of the functions of a forum such as this is to minimize the FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt) factor by providing factual data upon which to build decisions. A portion of the process is learning how to screen factual data from opinion and rumor. Another is learning how to evaluate that factual data in regards to company performance and potential. Still another portion is learning how to determine when various posters have hidden agendas, and to learn how to determine what they are.

Your unwillingness to provide factual substantiation for your assertions places you (in my book) squarely in the middle of the FUD camp. Without substantiation, your data falls into the rumor category. The fact that you continue to post negative innuendo and rumor on a stock thread, when you assert that there are better long opportunities elsewhere, indicates that you have a short position in this stock, which you have thus far been unwilling to openly acknowledge. That falls under the category of 'hidden agenda'.

If a forum such as this had been available when I first started investing, it is likely I could have avoided a lot of mistakes I made, and might be fairly wealthy now. Now I have the time, the experience, and the inclination to pass on what I have learned.

As far as me 'hyping a split', this is what I posted:

Techie, support your assertions with FACTS, or BEGONE!

Thank you for having the integrity to do one or the other. Again, I'm happy to debate FACTS.
