G'day Nancy,

Congratulations on having such a fine opinion of your husband.

Where we disagree on this point is the fact that you feel women should have the full responsibility for birth control, abortion, etc. This is exactly the injustice that has been forced on women thru the ages. That responsibillity should be 50% from both the male & female IMO.

Blanket condemnation of all abortions is unrealistic. In many situations you are just condemning a child to a horrible life. If a woman feels she would not be a fit mother, I respect her opinion.

We can debate up to what point of development an abortion should be allowed, but not whether a woman has the inherent right if she deems it necessary. This is U.S.A. Women cannot be lumped into one labeled group as irresponsible, uncaring, murderers if life puts them in an untenable position.

My strongest argument is that men are the least worthy or able to make this decision for women. I strongly respect your opinion because you know all the ramifications of motherhood. Those who don't should have the humility & honesty to say "I don't have the right to condemn them" since I'll never walk in their shoes.

Yes, I have three children. Never had or even contemplated an abortion. In fact, I know no one personally who's ever had an abortion. However, I respect another woman's right to make her own decision.

take care, Ann
