Technology changes...That's true,but isn't that Compaq's problem
We now have a 3 yr. agreement! A MAJOR victory for SYQUEST
So what's next...A buyout by IOM LOL!

Actually this was a brilliant move for Compaq (IMO)it
now gives them something to sell and at the
same time keeps the general public away from
set top boxes

Earlier post...Last visit I mentioned my friend was going to Ssee SYQT at the Salomon Smith
Barney conference. Haven't really had much of a chat about it but I should have
something by Sunday night. A few things he did say:

-Gross margin(GM) should be around break even this quarter
-cartridges are being sold at positive GM
-drives being sold currently at negative GM
-drives to be sold at + GM by September
-they expect break even EPS by the end of the year (hopefully Sept)
-They are hoping to announce OEM agreements for either the SparQ or the Quest
"very soon"
-yields are increasing
-very impressive management team - mostly from Western Digital in the days of their
turnaround
-did good job of calming fears of threat from ls120 and Sony/Fuji venture. They
stressed that the backward compatible drives are "Much much slower" than the SparQ
-with the large rampup in sales of the Sparq, they are expecting volume discounts from
their suppliers, in turn cutting drive and media costs.
-stable supply of adaptive heads due to pricing and volume agreement with
TDK/SAE...unlike Iomega. The importance of this is that the drive industry is moving to
MR technology (now over 50% of drives) and adaptive heads are harder to get in
volume and at stable prices.
-As for Syed Iftikar and Castlewood, don't believe the hype. No one has even seen a
product yet. Based on what Castlewood says, shouldn't they be on the market now??
-Lastly, SyQuest should have the financing for a couple more quarters...he followed on
that "these guys are well connected with venture capitalists"
-Obviously SYQT stock price is getting close to $0, however, I personally have a
feeling they're going to pull it off. I'm hoping for $5-7.00 in 6 months
