<<Also, why is this cyclical downturn different from any other one in disk drive history.>> It's not the downturn that scares me... It's what it takes to produce a recovery that is the big worry here. Maybe some of the older players here can give you a better explanation of what it takes, but form the little I've learned says we need one of these to occur:

1) acquisition/merger of a major player to stop the price erosion(e.g. - Conner)
2) major technological stumbling block that catches a few players out(e.g. - MR)

Which one of these do you see as coming soon? This market isn't going to improve because you wish it was going to... Have you seen the recent announcements by Samsung and Maxtor??? How do these help the situation at hand?

Remember your enthusiasm when you read the PR "Read-Rite Expects Lower Sales and Greater Loss than Analysts' Expectations for the Third Quarter of Fiscal 1998"

Oh yeah, here comes summer,

Looks like we may see that 12 - 15% downside in the A.M. on this news. I'm looking to add more @ $7.

I assume you are not directing that message at me. I bought more RDRT just before I left for vacation. At $8 1/8, I feel I won't be complaining.

Have a good day, Dennis
