Tweaker:
Re CPQ to sell direct.
In just over a year the story has gone from "customers want the touch and feel before buying so won't buy over the internet"
to "customers demand that you sell direct over the internet" and "put it on my credit card, here is the #"
The URL also implies that CPQ will give special deals to special people or groups. Seems possible to end up in court unless the "rules" are made clear to everyone so that one large customer( like a Dell devotee) is NOT given a far better deal on an equivalent product than another purchaser gets. But CPQ may now have 3 times as many
lawyers with DEC and Tandem in the fold .
It is hard to conceive that a country could have too small a number of attorneys, but between msft, intc, dec, intergraph, whitewater, travelgate, Starr, yr2000, etc they may have to let some of them out of jail. Do it on the "honor system'
(if you are an attorney I am just joshing)
