Mark,

Please explain in more detail your logic why rumours and propaganda kept this stock alive for two years. I would strongly argue that rumours (MSFT and general industry assumptions) and propaganda (MSFT) have actually seriously hurt NOVL! Far from helping them!

With the very few exceptions of rumoured take-overs (which didnt last long on the stock price) almost all of the rumours circulating around NOVL have been very negative. Let me just remind you of the ones that have really hurt NOVL:

"NOVL will be out of business in a couple years"
"NOVL's marketshare has collapsed and is still dropping fast"

These false rumours have seriously impared NOVL until recently. Why? Because quite a few industry customers of NOVL's have actually switched to an inferior NOS (NT) from NetWare solely based on this rumour alone!

Then there is your statement on Propaganda. The propaganda that has seriously hurt NOVL is that major "Flood of FUD" from MSFT. I dont even think I have to give examples of these crap.

So I would confidently state that because of NOVL's very healthy marketshare, NOVL has survived these past few years in spite of the intense Rumours and Propaganda.

The good news which you seem to not be grasping is that the rumours of NOVL's demise are evaporating. The MSFT FUD is starting to be destroyed as MSFT itself is fighting the wolves all around it and doesnt have time to focus on NOVL's quiet Recovery.

The reason you can't see it is that you (like a couple others on this board) use your rear-view mirror to predict NOVL's future. This strategy is not effective when predicting the future of a recovering company.

Base on your logic think what you would have predicted about Chrysler as it was just coming out of its near-death experience.

So I guess you and I will disagree on your logic about NOVL's future.

Out of curiousity

Do you think Noorda had any influence on them? In terms of working on their stock issues.

===============

By the way I'm the least likely person to get excited about Novell's share price. :)
