Re: "Translation: a waiting period with AMZN."

Not from what I've seen...I ordered a book from Amazon and it arrived on my doorstep ~ 2-1/2 days later. (I was even shocked it was so fast.) And, btw, whointhewidewild world is BKS?

hey baby only time will tell.... the truth is that for B&N every book they sell on the net is a book they don't sell in one of their high cost stores... it is truely a scarey prop... my guess is that AMAZON will use its high priced stock to become the dominant media retailer on the net and it will make a ton of dosh... I have also been using it since the git go and I like its service... so again we'll have to differ... by the way back to AMAT... I have bever said that it will not rise, or that it will one day be a growth stock again... what I have said... CONSISTANTLY... is that it is not a growth stock now and when the street panics we who sold at 100 and then again at 37, and are therefore 40 new points in the money wi'll get teriffic leverage on the way up... to me investing is not about blind faith, it is about the realization that everybody wants to win, and to win yourself you have to look at the motivation of others... TRANSLATION.... JM speaks with a rosey tongue... one must look past it to find reality...

Re: "Using FY98 as a base and sometime early next century as a peak, AMAT should see explosive top and bottom line growth. I am looking for $5+ around the 2002 timeframe, using historical growth #s and temepring them to account for a slower rate of increase in spending."

Especially the $5+ part. Starting from a base of $1.30 for FY98 and adding 25% annual earnings growth, I'm coming up with $3.17/EPS for FY02...not $5....why are we coming up with such different numbers?
