Why is GBUR overvalued? It trades at less than 2 times sales (good), but 7 times book (bad). Although it is losing money (bad), it does not seem grossly overvalued. What else makes you like it?

You could be right. But Gardenburger is sold through Costco. We buy it there as do a lot of our friends on restricted diets. It is a really good burger- and we prefer it to the Morningstar and Green Giant products. When they have tastings at our Costco the product seems to be well received.

That said, I haven't invested in the company. But I don't think this short has the same downside potential as a Zona. And if we have any more beef and chicken scares GBUR could do very well indeed. As I know a little bit about meat processing I would say future scares are very likely.

Bill - I did extensive research on Gardenburger. My kids won't eat Gardenburgers. We are Boca Burger fans, but my kids prefer real hamburgers.

So, if the kids won't eat them, mom's will not buy them. I think my wife made me Gradenburgers for dinner, with lots of toppings to cover the bland taste.

:)
