More like $1.30 as outlined in the poison pill plan.

I like your username. I thought it was a great movie, and I had a lot of Kingsfields (or whatever his name was) at Rice.

Cisco just announced a Shareholders Right Plan. Odds are they are getting ready to preannounce and shock the bulls. Some here may say the plan was filed because of all the takeover speculation between the voice and data companies. However, with Asia melting as we speak, I think CSCO will warn the street within 2 weeks. Am I the first here with a meltdown prediction. Maybe it'll only meltdown like MOT did last week, down $1. <G>

Since when is there a correlation between announcing a shareholders' rights plan and what you imply is an impending earnings warning? If Cisco announced such a plan for the reason you imply, then the sky must truly be falling.

As for being the first, there is always some would-be Cassandra around here that later proves to be just another Chicken Little.

Then <Pooof!!!> they are gone.

PaperChase

Cisco's presence in asia is not as large as some of the other networkers. Granted they have made a push into China who's market is huge, even if China devalues it's currency that market will surpass Japan and other asian countries in the long run. Cisco made a presence for future returns, not todays.

Frankly I'm surprised that Cisco did not adopt a Shareholders Right Plan years ago. Their business model is unsurpassed!

Hey Paperchase,

I see you've already recieved a number of responses. I too am puzzled. I don't see the correlation between this Shareholders Rights Plan and a "meltdown". From what I hear Cisco is having a great quarter and year. I heard the CFO announced that employee bonuses would be increased for the end of the 98 fiscal year. This because Cisco was having such a great year and that demand for the quarter was in line with expecations - perhaps exceeding them slightly.
