Eric:

ALA is such a joke.

On the brighter side, I was relieved that I only lost another 5/16, what with TODAY's good news. I wish they would stop with the PR- it's killing me!

Eric:FWIW on ALA deployments

I am a subscriber to a high speed internet service provided by SingTel (Singapore Telecom) and they are using ALA ADSL modem (model 1000 ADSL) with POTs splitter. The unit is sitting a couple of feet away from me. I can provide you with the serial and batch number of my box if you need these.

To date, there are in excess of 6,000 units already deployed and the target is for 10,000 units to be deployed by year end.

The hardware cost is S$658 (for ADSL modem, ATM card and MPEG card). That's about US$380 for the lot, including installation. I'm paying S$60 (aprox US$35)for 25 hours of access. The MPEG card is used for video on demand applications over the internet - I can watch and view movies (not current cinema releases but titles like Fifth Element, Batman,etc.. are available.

I don't know about you but 10,000 units is not a small number either.

I sure hope WSTL can actually shown actual deployment. Last year they were at the Singapore Communication Asia Show - this year WSTL was not in attendance.
