Bill and MSFT have never shown any reluctance to jump on whatever bus was moving. MSFT arrogance does not extend to any particular attachment to current MSFT products or even anything they said last week. If JAVA ever takes off you can bet that MSFT will be there with a JAVA version of everything that has any market potential.

Agreed. The only problem is Bill wants to protect his current investment in windows. We'll have to see how he'll manage both.

On mainframe JAVA - I guess you don't know much about mainframes. That is really funny, ROLFMAO!!

I know Zilch about mainframes. Maybe you can enlighten me!! (better than smoking me)
Maybe you know something IBM doesn't. Tell me my friend.

AS400 JVM:

iws.as400.ibm.com

There's something like 500,000 AS400s out there, mostly used for mission critical functions. Every one is capable of serving up web pages, servicing queries, and taking orders using applications written in JAVA. Porting a company's server-side software assets, without recompilation or modification, from one architecture to another, for purposes of increasing performance, enhancing reliability, and/or lowering operating costs now becomes feasible if the apps are written in 100% pure JAVA.
