Why is everyone so positive?

Current quarter analyst forecasts for CPQ $ .01 per share
Current quarter analyst forecasts for DEC $1.17 per share

Quote from the Compaq press release:

"Excluding these charges, we believe the combined company will achieve approximately break-even results for the second quarter," said Mason.

The current S&P report states that DEC has 147,429,000 common shares. So unless there is something that I'm missing what happened to the $172,491,930 that DEC was supposed to earn.

Combined company Breaks Even sure looks like a Compaq blow up to me.

I'm answering my own book value question from info I just got from Zack's online research. Recent DEC book value was $25.43 recent CPQ book Value was $6.21 so I would think based on these numbers the combined book value is $ $31.64. Things may have changed so don't
count this as gospel. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't get it. How can a Compaq,Digital,Tandem,& Alta Vista combined be selling for less than a pre split Ktel?

It's simple. Ktel earned money last quarter.
