Stitch, Oh. I forgot your article. I skimmed it but forgot to respond to it. Sorry. Too many warnings got in the way. I remember reading it over and thinking that there seemed to be quite a few problems with it. Here's my opinion."The U.S., Canada, and Mexico will grow 3.5% this year and 2.7% next year, according to a three nation study released today by a consortium of research groups." Now since when have we've ever seen numbers like this not change? Lately they have been changing almost as fast as they are posted. Plus a "consortium of research groups" hmmm...makes me wonder about this, right off the bat. "Trade between North America and the five Asian countries most affected by the crisis (Indonesia,Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Korea) amounts to just six per cent of exports or less then one per cent of GDP." Say what? Isn't it convenient to simply drop off China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, AND Japan, because the author's definition of "most effected by the crisis." Yeah right. The author's statement is meaningless. Almost underhanded. They way I would look at this, "Wow those smaller Tigers have that much impact on US exports. If I add in China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, and Japan, we may have a bigger problem than I thought.""This view appears to be shared by many of the world's central bankers. In its annual report released this week, The Bank for International Settlement (BIS) was more concerned about the threat of inflation than any chance that Asia's downturn in the world's economy." Now if I'm not mistaken, isn't this the same group that gave outstanding marks to the Asian Tigers for their remarkable strenght and growth? Just before the S__T hit the fan. Stitch thanks for trying to post some "good" news, but this one just doesn't hold any water at all. By the way, who wrote it and where did you pick it up? Thanks, MikeM(From Florida) PS If you really want to be hit by some gloomy news, go read Jess' post on the Semi Equip Board. Yikes! Here it is. Brace yourself.
