we will be in there buying

Can't help but feel with the extremely low volume on this stock that the sales are people who need some cash for the house or car payment. 14x 98 earnings and projected growth in the 20+% area makes it, how do the analysts put it, attractive. Patience is the key here IMHO

Gordon Langston

P.S. Patience and maybe buying some Aug or Nov calls.

FYI, IN THE PAST FEW DAYS PMTC HAS ANNOUNCED TWO MAJOR WINDCHILL WINS, FIRST AIRBUS AND SECOND SUN MICROSYSTEMS. I THINK THEY MAY BE CLOSER TO GETTING IT TOGETHER THAN YOU ARE WILLING TO ADMIT.

Windchill is a serious product. The founders of Windchill are some of the technical gurus that fled Metaphase. Heppelmann was the chief technology guy at Metaphase. Metaphase is going to have a hard time hanging on to the small lead (SDRC had 7% of the market in 97 and PMTC/CVN has 6% combined) it had last year. Windchill is web-centric, 100% Java. The BOCA group is already signing major players and Windchill hasn't even been released yet.

Plus Windchill is poised for a portion of the ERP market (which is at least 10 times bigger than PDM).

I'm not sure what you mean by raping the small shop market. SDRC charges about the same per seat for their customers as PTC charges for pro-e (retail). I think all companies selling high end (high priced) mcad are going to take a hurting on profits because of the competive NT based (solidworks, designwave, Ironcad, etc) ~$4000 seat stuff that's now out there. These PC modelers are becoming a reality and SDRC doesn't have one.
