Having researched the subject quite thoroughly I am convinced that for
many high-performance disk applications (not all), multiple EIDE drives
and multiple controllers can offer comparable performance to SCSI at lower cost.

But was it all plug and play with no system hardware conflicts or a custom job? Certainly anything is possible if you put your mind to it. Also, SCSI prices are overblown and I don't believe they can be attributed solely to the technology. Never quite understood the big differential albeit smaller today. FWIW, I recently purchased a 4.5GB Quantum Ultra SCSI for 270$ US. Sure you can get more GB per dollar with EIDE/UDMA but I find the flexibility of SCSI worth the extra price.

Mark,
I'll just have to accept everything you just said as 100% the way it is going to be.
Even if ADPT were to lose some revenues, you would have to assume they will become more efficient over time. Isn't $13 a little cheap for a company holding $6 per share holder in cash, with a pe of 9?
Are you shorting at these levels?
Do you see ADPT's revenues being cut in half?
Is ADPT going to have some problem keeping up with changing technology?
It seems to me that they have a lot of engineers and a relatively small product line. Are those people spending their days tossing paper airplanes around the office or are they working on new product?
Please translate your excellent tech knowledge to dollar signs so that an uneducated sloth(such as myself) can cash in.

Thank You,
Patrick

>>I believe there are only two things that SCSI can do which EIDE cannot -

1) Support longer cable runs (the bus drivers/receivers are better)
2) Better support multiple devices on a single bus (the new U-2 has
better B/W, and the "transaction" architecture allows periods of
dead time to be used)<<

What about off-loading the CPU's workload?
