It has been shaky for quite awhile. CPQ objected to Intel producing the motherboard. Intel ignored the objections and Cpq then retaliated by using the K5 Chip. But AMD had problems with the K5 and Cpq got burned. When CPQ indicated it was going to use the K6, it told its investors "Don't worry we are only going to use the K6 in the low end and it won't hurt margins at the high end.", CPQ hasn't made money since.
