Mark: Good points. Here is some info I dug up on Saviers.

"F. Grant Saviers is President and Chief Executive Officer of Adaptec, Inc. Before becoming Chief Executive Officer in July 1995, Mr. Saviers was Adaptec's President and Chief Operating Officer; he is a director of the corporation. He joined the company in August 1992 to assume the responsibility for Adaptec's daily operations and to direct the company's business units and worldwide sales and operations. Mr. Saviers directed Adaptec's expansion of its business to include network controllers, multi-channel SCSI and RAID controllers, high performance serial I/O technologies and storage management software. Mr. Saviers earned a BS and MS degree in engineering from Case Institute of Technology. In addition, he attended Harvard University's Advanced Management Program. He is a trustee of The Computer Museum, and a member of the advisory board of the college of Engineering of the University of California, Berkeley."

He's been CEO for three years. Looks like he had some impact on Adaptec business before then, too.

"The measure of the current CEO will be how well he repositions the
company to respond to the current market challenges." Key point.
