Was in my local Wal-Mart in Pinehurst, NC today. Went to the electronics to see if Quest had arrived.

Sure enough, store had 11 copies on hand. I asked the store clerk how many had been sold, and she said she thought they had gotten in 20 or 25 originally. (By the way - no more Wayne's World in stock. The Wal-Mart had really updated the electronics section :-) )

Best part - while I was talking to the store clerk, a 11 year-old boy and his mother came up to the same clerk and said they had "decided to get it". The clerk opened the case, handed the boy a copy of Quest, followed by a huge smile and an actually leap of joy (from the boy that is, although I was tickled as well).

I asked the boy (his name turned out to be Ben) and his mother if they thought this was a good game to buy, and the boy answered "My friend has it already - we played it yesterday at his house - it's really cool".

I think it's cool as well. Made my day to see Ben as excited as he was. And to think that my company made it happen.

<<This will be a job for marketing for sure....>>

Tom, I think the job was already done by spotting a need many months ago and filling it, along with getting Nintendo to kick in over a million buxs for the tv campaign. We'll see how the ads look on Tuesday--check anywhere but CBS, LOL.

Reviews seem to be calling Quest a good RPG effort for all but the hardcore fan. Quest seems to be aimed at the heart of the N64 audience, which skews a little young. THQ has even used a quote in its print ads from EGM, which gave a supposedly negative review.

Can you, or any of our gamers give us a quick synopsis as to what the competition is for top dog on the June N64 charts? Obviously, Acclaim's All-Star Baseball is selling well. What else? I think Nintendo has two much-anticipated games, but they aren't due until June 29th which won't help them on the June charts much. Right now it sounds to me like Quest is gonna hit top five.

We'll see who has more power next week, the short-busters or those who want THQ to come in under as many June strike prices as possible. But the FA is terrific on this stock so anything under $30 is just one big pressure-cooker, to my mind.
