How does WOW handle Moving Averages? Is there some known bug?

I keep looking at the moving averages that WOW plots as an overlay on top of my price charts and thinking that they don't really look right. Finally I've worked around to the point that I have plotted a 12 day SMA and a 30 day SMA. In another panel I've plotted an indicator which is the simple difference of the same two simple moving averages. Now, I fully expect the indicator to hit zero as to two moving averages cross each other. They almost do. The averages will sometimes cross several days to one side or the other of when the indicator crosses zero. Hmmmm ....

I turn on the data panel to the left of the chart and look at the values. (I happen to be plotting Altera and looking at 3/27/98) The 12 day SMA shows a value of 40.84, but it plots on the price chart at about 42.75. The 30 day SMA shows a value of 40.79 but it plots on the chart at about 45. My difference indicator shows a value of 0.048 and plots at about zero as it should.

Now the question is why does WOW give me one set of printed values for the SMAs, but plots them as different values?

Does any of this sound familiar to anyone? Am I doing something wrong or is this a known bug?

Thanks.

Bill

Hi Bill...Not familiar with Worden Bro's. Have been using Dial/Data for the past 2+ years and my experience with them is not good. Data quality stinks, over billing, terrible customer service (stay on hold forever). Just ordered Quotes+ ver. 2.0. After reading the recommendation/reviews by others here, it seems Q+ is the way to go. We'll see.....

Happy Trading

Jim
