Well penni, anything? Actually, some on this thread might find it of some interest. You have to go through the poetry thread to get it though.

Penni, have you ever calculated the number of calories in an order of fish and chips? I believe it is about fifteen or sixteen hundred. I hope you didn't eat one other thing today, or just nibbled off one corner of Dan's dinner. Since you also drank a lot (your words, not my stereotype), I think maybe you should fast tomorrow to make up for blowing your diet!! Please don't write here if you're fasting, though!! You might scare away all the posters!! ;^)

All kidding aside, it is Saturday night, time for a nice poem about a cat. I like this because it answers my questions about what a cat thinks and dreams about. However, I have no idea whatsoever what a pard might be!! Wait, yes I do, because I cheated and looked it up in the dictionary. It is just the short version of the word "leopard".

Cat

The fat cat on the mat
may seem to dream
of nice mice that suffice
for him, or cream;
but he free, maybe,
walks in thought
unbowed, proud, where loud
roared and fought
his kin, lean and slim,
or deep in den
in the East feasted on beasts
and tender men.

The giant lion with iron
claw in paw,
and huge ruthless tooth
in gory jaw
the pard dark-starred
fleet upon feet,
that oft soft from aloft
leaps on his meat
where woods loom in gloom--
far now they be,
fierce and free,
and tamed is he;
but fat cat on the mat
kept as a pet,
he does not forget.

No Penni, we vacation just south of Nags Head. It's the Beaufort, Atlantic Beach area.

We're curious about Outter Banks area and know many people who've stayed there. Plan to stop overnite on return trip to check it out. I'm sure Kitty Hawk alone is worth the drive.

We'll be there in August this year. It's a 12-hr journey for us, but well worth the saddle sores:o)

The No. Carolina Aquarium, Swansboro(antique shops), & a civil war fort just up the beach are some of our usual activities besides sun,surf and evening crab hunts.

Maybe you could whet my appetite for even better attractions at your Nags Head destination. Are the beaches uncrowded there with few restrictions(such as beach tags,no food on beach, etc.)? We vacationed in New Jersey for years. But recently they've become busy, noisy & too many bothersome rules & regs.

For brief excursions, Dewey/Rehobeth Beach areas of Delaware are next best to the Crystal Coast of N.C.

We prefer small, quiet coastal areas as opposed to the overgrown Ocean City, MD, Virginia Beach type resorts. Always searching for another charming seaside area to explore, that hasn't yet been discovered by the masses. Maybe you & others in the forum have suggestions. It would be greatly appreciated if you do.
