<<<< For example if the biotech field is getting hammered as an index, would that preclude a small company that is rumored to be releasing a new plastic heart valve and is expected upon release to sell 1M worth of product in the first quarter to still have a stagnant share price? ....if you read my post carefully you will note that i said that i have a stock that is in contrary motion to index:sgnc. it took off last week--just like you are saying. ....but if we play the odds, which we all must do, then we see that almost all stocks follow the index "over time." ....how many japanese stocks are higher than they were 8 years ago? ....can you find a korean stock at a 52 week high? .....right now dgiv is down because telcos are down, emerging markets are down, russel is down, techs are down, etc. .....when markets drop most investors get out of risky stocks and head for safety--that happens in every world market whenever there is a major, scary downtrend. .....and i agree, on great news a bb stock can soar when the market is down--but that is not a common situation. curtis
