Actually, I personally would not consider Unitrode's parts up to par with Linear Technology and Maxim.

Analog Devices has a great CMOS technology which ADI is capitalizing towards more digital applications. ADI's DSPs really take a big chunk of market share away from Texas Instrument and Lucent.

TI, Motorola, Philip, SGS, and National Semidisaster are also great companies producing analog stuff but more in the everyday usage. Analog is considered a second class citizen among these companies.

Linfinity is the old Silicon General who pioneered the SG2524 family. After that great family of power management devices, no more innovations really come out of that company.

Cherry Semiconductor is a fast growing company, but the management tends to stay in the low-end, high volume business. I would be very impressed if this company ever to get into telecomm big time like LLTC and MXIM.

Semtech and Harris seem to have the same goal as Cherry.

Dallas Semiconductor is making these timer ICs not really in the same general type of business with LLTC and MXIM.

Micrel has a lot of problems right now.

Benchmarq is a small Low Country company specialized in sensor applications, not really in the same league as LLTC and MXIM.

I don't know about Telcom and Sipex.

Elantec and Microlinear are truly the companies I missed, thank you, but these two companies are too small to effectively compete against LLTC and MXIM.

LLTC is still the leader of the bunch with MXIM very close behind.
