Tero

Thanks for the website. Didn't know about it.

Just spent half an hour there, which is clearly not enough. My first observation is that almost everyone is complaining. If they're ATT users the phones sound terrible in busy places like Manhattan. If its CDMA, the buildout is Swiss Cheese, especially with Sprint, which is what I've been hearing as well. With analog, short battery life etc.Everyone is waiting for Data.
I read through the first 50 posts that came up after I searched "Qualcomm phones". People seem satisfied with the phones. I haven't yet found your posts.
I don't think any of this "proves" anything other than we're still in the early innings of the game, not somewhere near the end which is what you seem to think.. I think it's fairly easy to go to a site like Deja vu and find statements which corroborate ones' point of view, but thanks for bringing the site to our attention. It's obviously a great resource.. Dave

Now let me see if I understand this correct. Some users of GSM phones find that they are having a great experience with strong signal and no dropped calls.Your impression is therefore that QUALCOMM painted its self into a corner with its claims of less dropped calls.Tero you can't be as naive as to belive that that is the reality of GSM vs CDMA .Bell Core Labs,Lucent.Motorola and numerous wireless carriers did huge research and found CDMA to be greatly superior. You on the other hand are proclaiming GSM to be the clear winner on the basis of some "street" comments that gee I love my GSM phone.Ahh Oh ok.

Tero, From the Annals of Route 66. Given your desire of Deja News, I thought you might enjoy these anecdotal views of a more mature Qualcomm product.

Werner Truck Drivers Comment on the New Paperless Log System

''I believe Werner's system will become the industry standard. I'm really proud to say that I work with Werner . . . the company is innovative and the management took the leadership role in developing this paperless log technology.''

--Cliff Petty, North Platte, Neb., a 10-year Werner owner- operator driver

''I'd be the first to admit that I'm one of those hard- headed drivers who doesn't adapt to new systems quickly. In fact, I remember telling our safety vice president that this system wasn't going to work. Wow, was I surprised by how much it helps me as a driver. The system does a better job of keeping a log of my hours and activities than I ever did. It takes all the guesswork out of tracking when and what I did during the day.''

--Chuck Huston, Rock Rapids, Iowa, a truck driver for 41 years --the past 12 years with Werner Enterprises

''At first I was really scared when Werner started talking about this new Paperless Log System, and I was sure I wasn't going to like it. I don't know how to operate a computer and I was afraid I couldn't learn this new system. Now after using the system for six months, while continuing to use the paper logbook, I wish I had it 10 years ago. It's so much easier to stay on top of your hours and to log your activities.''

--Ben Hein, a 24-year veteran truck driver from Fairbury, Neb.

''I enjoy being a truck driver because of the freedom I have to make decisions about my work. There are set things I need to do, but in many ways, I'm my own boss. As I see it, Werner's new Paperless Log System makes it easier for me to do my job. I used the system for about six months, in addition to my paper logbook, and it was a lot easier to track my work hours and activities. I especially found it helpful when making intercity deliveries in Chicago. I had a long list of places I had to stop at, and it was so efficient to just log in my activities on the keyboard, compared to drawing lines to record my time and noting each activity in my paper logbook.

''I'll admit that at first I was rather skeptical of this new electronic, computerized system. I thought it would be hard to teach this old dog a new trick, but I was amazed at how quickly I figured it out.''

--James Ward, Fort Smith, Arkansas, a truck driver for 48 years-- the past 10 years with Werner Enterprises
