Maybe I am wrong, but I think Susan is staying silent because she is in fear for her life. She probably does not want to end up DEAD like so any of the others. She has children, and it is probably better for her to park it in jail for a couple of years, and still be around for her kids.

I seriously doubt the woman would sit in jail for as long as she has to simply make a point. It is a means to survival for her.

Just my opinion.
