You need to be very nimble with the Energy Funds. The ALL STAR Newsletter by Dan Rowland, highly acclaimed, just got burned with Select Energy Services. Dan states that "we were in the wrong sector and we got out." After a string of three successful trades his Fidelity Single Portfolio suffered a loss due to Energy Services. The portfolio is currently in money markets.

Hey Angler, wondered what happened to you. Bailed on FSESX a while back but think the time is here to go back. I'm in food& ag, health(very long), and home finance (very long) and ut. growth & retail.

I think fido has changed their trading policy. They are giving "frequent trader" points or something and have lowered their fees again to $14.95 for those with over one trade a month or something like that. I didn't pay much attention because I qualified at first glance. Check it on the fido site under what's new.

Anyone else thinking of FSESX again?

Hi Angler:

Welcome back. The strong dollar helps to make foreign travel more
interesting.

For my own record I post fund rankings on Wed. I keep track of 33
Select funds. I don't follow Cyclical Industries, Environment
Services, Industrial Materials, Natural Gas, and Natural Resources,
because these funds are small and do not have good records. I also
watch Real Estate fund (FRESX), which is not a Select fund.

The five most volatile Select funds are FDPMX, FSAGX, FSESX, FDCPX, and FSELX. Be very careful with these funds. Less volatile and good performing funds are FSLBX, FIDSX, FSRBX, FSPCX, FSPHX, FDLSX, and FSTCX.

Fidelity does not like frequent switching. There was an article in Wall Street Journal about mutual fund families trying to make switching more difficult.

Regards,
Julius

Hi,
Overtrading? I am assuming it was not a select fund that they
said you were overtrading, is that correct?

Thank you,
Don
