What do you consider to be the "matter at hand". Maybe that would help me understand your position. JLA

Frankly, I can't remember the last sitting Governor convicted of a felony and hauled out of the Governor's mansion in handcuffs and sent to jail. I suppose it's happened before, but I don't know.

The fact that you diminish this accomplishment as "guilt by association" is lost on me. This is the definition of political corruption. All the coverups, bribes, and power plays are what are being investigated. Starr is trying to unravel abuses of power and conspiracy to obstruct justice.

It just happens that Clinton's direct activities are at the center of the storm.

Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire....part deaux?

Washington Daily News....Defunct
circa memorial day 1967 Editorial pages

FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE by Edward Gibbons (1776-1788)

I. WHY IT DIED

1. The undermining of the dignity and sanctity of the home, which is the basis for human society.

2. Higher and higher taxes, the spending of public money for free circuses for the populice.

3. The mad craze for pleasure; sports becoming every year more exciting, more violent and more brutal.

4. The building of great armaments when the enemy is withen - the decay of individual responsibilty.

5. The decay of religion; faith fading into mere form, losing touch with life, losing power to guide the people.

The average age of the world civilizations was 200 years. These nations rose and fell in the following sequence.

From bondage to spiritual faith
From spiritual faith to great courage
From courage to liberty
From liberty to abundance
From abundance to selfihishness
From selfishness to complacency
From complacency to apathy
From apathy to dependence
From dependence back to bondage

The above appeared in the editorial section of the now defunct Washington News
in 1967 and the writer said "in a few years the US will be 200 years old....
Will we make it?

The Romanization of America

The Romanization of America
Essay/ By Jack Ryan

(c) 1998, For Educational and Discussion Purposes Only

The three centuries between the great age of Marcus Aurelius and the sacking of Rome in the 5th century AD is often referred to as the Rise and Fall of Rome. The problem is, the people did not know it was falling until it was too late. Rome did not fall because of the inherently slovenly or debauched nature of her once great people. Rome fell for many reasons, but more than any other, she fell because she ceased to be primarily Roman. The Roman spirit simply bled to death.

In the beginning, to be a Roman citizen was a highly prized honor. Men lived, fought and died for the honor to be a citizen of Rome. In the beginning, citizenship was required to hold most civic posts, however menial. The ranks of Rome's powerful legions were filled by men of Rome. Putting aside, training, leadership, tactics and technology, the armies of Rome excelled because of the stake each and every man had in winning or losing.

But as Rome's borders expanded, she could no longer depend solely on Roman citizen's to help defend her borders. Rome began allowing the very people she had earlier vanquished, to join her armies to defend the frontiers. Other Italian cities were eventually offered citizenship. Foreigners and even slaves were allowed to fill government and civic posts. As the frontiers expanded further, men of Rome were more inclined to pay freedman or even slaves to take up their posts. And after scandals, civil war and the general malaise of the Roman people toward their own governance, the prestige of Rome quickly fell. As the prestige of Rome declined, the value of citizenship declined with it.

Rome--plain and simply--died from within.

Draw these analogies to the present day. American citizenship is more prized by those staring at us from across the water and deserts, than the very people who inhabit this land, by the very people who were born here. Today, you may become a citizen merely by taking an inane test--memorize the pledge of allegiance, name the US capitol, etc...

Every liberal group in existence has gone out of their ways to strip away our unique American-ness. Now we are Native this or African that, or some other hyphenated monstrosity. Our borders have been thrown open to the barbarians--and I'm not talking about the good, descent and honest immigrants who see America for the land of golden opportunity She is. I am talking about people who see America as only a sow's udder, people who could give a wit who Thomas Jefferson, John Adams or Thomas Paine were.

The Roman writer, Vegetius, once wrote: "He who desires peace should prepare for war." It is advice that Ronald Reagan took on with relish, and eventually destroyed the Soviet Union. It is advice that Mr. Clinton has failed to heed. He has chopped our once great armies and navy back to near irrelevance. Another warning sign, especially when we consider the missile and military technology we are now selling to China--and God who knows who else.

The danger that Rome eventually succumbed to, is the danger we face today. Slowly--through almost 40 years of liberal prodding--the spirit of America is being eroded. It has become politically incorrect to consider ourselves solely American.

I am not an Irish-American, even though my grandfather was an Irish immigrate.

I am a South Carolinian.

An American.

Uniquely and forever.

The following article, written by the prophet, Amos, is explosive.

There can be no reasonable disagreement but that the Clinton administration is the most barbaric, inhumane, fascist and fundamentally immoral government in this country's history. Documentation is brought forward daily revealing corruption at all levels of this administration.

Most shocking, however, is the Holocaust-like denial of the American people. In spite of visible and easily known proof of countless illegal and reprehensible acts of personal and political indecency, the American people in vast numbers disregard obvious truth. This was precisely the mentality of German citizens under the Third Reich.

In a recent CBS/CNN poll 52% of those surveyed believe that Clinton sold secret military technology to the Chinese in exchange for money. 57% of the same respondents approve of Clinton's conduct of foreign policy. The only possible conclusion is that a substantial segment of citizens of the United States have become enemies of our form of government.

There is, in fact, a huge groundswell of support to abandon the Constitution, increase the scope and power of central government, radically restrict civil rights, establish a presidency above the law and treat as criminals any who oppose in thought, word and deed the authority of the imperial presidency.

By virtue of his assumed power to execute Presidential Orders Clinton has been signing into law a raft of edicts aimed at suspending the Constitution, dissolving the Congress, shutting down the Supreme Court and placing the nation under military dictatorship.

FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency is the structure under which these actions will occur. Its director is a fellow clan member of Clinton's. (The clan is a sister cadre of the Travelers, a closed society of gypsies into which Clinton was born.)

Under the War Powers Act, Kennedy's, Nixon's, Carter's and his own edicts, Clinton can act in the event of impeachment proceedings against him to declare a state of national emergency and bring down the government. Under these in-place Executive Orders he will suspend the constitution, dissolve the Congress and shut down the Supreme Court. Top level administration officials have completed planning and strategy sessions. Implementation requires only an executive decision. Does anyone honestly believe that our President is incapable of this?

The ultimate protection of our constitutional form of government lies in its defense by a non-political military. The US military has been completely devastated and politicized in the past 6 years. Its leadership is no longer committed to the defense of the constitution but to the politically correct edicts of its Commander In Chief. It has been turned into a police force, stationed in more than a hundred locations around the world, operating outside the control of courts and laws.

Just like the decimation of our once-proud military, Clinton has adopted many of the very socialist policies of Adolph Hitler. Bill Clinton appears ready, willing and able to achieve Adolph Hitler's dream of world domination and absolute power.

We will reap the whirlwind of our immorality, our holocaust against babies, our greed, our selfishness and our indifference to the cause of liberty.
