Yugoslavia 1 x Iran 0 Final.UNFAIR!!!The Iranians did not deserve to lose this game. This is the most unfair score of the tournament so far by far. I dissagree George, The Yugos, showed a very "dry" game, however they never gave up, constantly attacked, their defense completely erased the Iranian forwards. To their credit the Iranians played strong, but a bit on the rough side (more about this below). Then with the substitutions, (younger players), became more dangerous. The single goal was a partial "gift" by the goalie, who position himself nearly on the same side of the "wall", making it impossible for him to reach the ball. I did not understand why he stood where he did. The Iranians seemed to me a little inexperienced, and a tad too "dirty" in their fouls... I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, this time, but there was a play, with the Yugo player on the ground, the Iranian defender, kind of went by and oops! "I just stepped in your face".... "involuntary on purpose" type of stuff.... I could not see it clear, and one never knows, with all the "acting that goes on" maybe nothing happened, however there was another Yugo player who saw the whole thing and he was protesting to the referee who discounted the event, after checking with the fallen player. This attitude really gets me going and can get me p/o.... and again, for now I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, otherwise I would be calling for the Iranians to "cool it"...in a not so gentle fashion. So while not spectacular, I do think that the result was fair. As to their progress further, the Yugos will have to improve, you are correct George that it is amazing that a country that has been completely torn by war, can gather itself and put a team in the World Cup, and I guess the same goes for the Croats. Nigeria not and under dog? hmmm.... Tomorrow's game USA -vs- Germany will turn out to be hotter than I first thought, and this group will turn out to be very interesting indeed. z.
