Because changing the course of a supertanker takes time - there's too much momentum involved.

That's just what the analysts said about Microsoft in Nov 1995. They said Microsoft didn't understand the internet and even if they tried to turn around, it was too late. I remember that nonsense well because I was buying all I could of Microsoft.

When it comes to Intel, you and I are on the opposite sides of the same fence. AMD and Cyrix are hurting margins, but I still think Intel do Ok this qtr. considering estimates have been lowered. Dale

Francis - thanks for your two cents. Actually worth much more than that to me. (Seems like someone took exception to "tornado alley" metaphor.

Because I'm a long term investor, I have no difficulty sweating out interim bumpy quarters. And this current market is definitely bumpy.

And indeed, turning a tanker takes time.
