Peppe, I agree that it would be a good idea for you to buy NN at $22 as a takeover candidate. Having a direct influence in a company focuses one's attention tremendously into obtaining as many objective data as possible. You may be then able to confirm my conversation of 3 years ago with John Lawlor who told me at that time that NN's ATMs were going to function at 2 - 12.5 GB; that they were working on a 50GB switch and that they had started on a 500 GB switch. At that time LU didn't even have an ATM. Their foray into their current 1 GB ATMs could be thus considered a good start.

Disclaimer: I am not an engineer. These data are 3 years old. I'll be happy to stand corrected by more informed sources,

TA

"LU's biggest hole is in an edge ATM solution to provide frame relay and other inter-working services"

I thought LU bought Yurie. Doesn't this plug the hole?

Peppe,

"Do they need a lan ethernet switching play ? Market is already saturated and margins are very low, making CS less attractive. "

By the same token, then why would either LU or NT want Bay? Why would NT buying Bay force LU to do anything?

If you're right, you do make a convincing argument for LU to want NN in particular. Seems like the Siemens connection would complicate things though.

About LU/CSCO: I wasn't thinking takeover... more merger or alliance.
