I think that this is another indicator that for long term investors this is a real good time to buy. Like you said, it will be a while, but like the saying goes "good things come to those that wait."

Your theory corresponds with the efficient market theory. News both good and bad is already priced into the stock. It does however extend it to set a six month window on the look forward. Very interesting.
