Tom, I'd take your side of that bet if I hadn't already committed my finances to a wager with Dave for a Pepsi that IDTI will double its stock price before DELL does. I'll look into the book you mentioned on speculative bubbles. The problem with these analysts all being collectively generous with their praise(and cash) for Lucent is that, like icebergs, they're capable of creating their own climate. The price may hang right up there, even though it seems to have little relation to value. If Lucent's price to book value is even worse than its P/E number, perhaps someone should write a novel exposing the lunacies of analysts. It seems to me they resemble lemming leaders heading an investor herd toward the cliff.

Nevertheless, the earlier post by Smythe to me that said IDTI seems to lack a solid long-term market plan is perceptive. They will have to focus on some of their products, since no outfit for which I worked ever successfully covered ALL the desired bases.

I'll watch to see how many lovers of Lucent take your bet: I don't think you'll end up with too many Big Macs. My best, Sam
