Demand for Y2k remediation in buildings ... from a Washington business magazine...

'Stop Y2K bug before it gets into your buildings

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bruce Christman Special To Washington Business Journal

The Year 2000 -- or Y2K -- millennium bug can be a significant pest for those who own, lease, manage, rent or finance real estate.

Many computer programs and embedded computer chips recognize only two digits when interpreting the year and may well assume that Jan. 1, 2000, is Jan. 1, 1900. As a result, computers may make incorrect computations about any time-sensitive programming, such as the day of the week, date, month, time of day or year.

Some of the systems in a typical building that may be affected by computer chips or software which do not recognize properly the year 2000:

Programmable HVAC systems.

Telephone systems and switches.

Lighting.

Sprinkler and other fire safety systems.

Security systems -- badge readers, key systems, surveillance cameras, alarm systems.

Power utilities.

Underground storage tank monitors.

Generators.

Parking access systems.

Utility metering.

Elevators.

UK's hospitals lag in race to fix millennium bug
09:01 a.m. Jun 16, 1998 Eastern
By John Morrison

LONDON, June 17 (Reuters) - Britain's local authorities and hospitals are lagging behind in the race to fix the computer millennium bug, a government watchdog said on Tuesday.

The Audit Commission said that with some 400 days left to the vital date, local authorities and the National Health Service (NHS) were behind schedule in coping with the problem and nobody knew how much it would cost to fix it.

''Doing nothing is not an option. Action is required to stop things getting out of hand,'' it said.

The commission's report said the problem posed by the failure of equipment to recognise the date 2000 would affect not just computer systems but everyday devices with embedded microchips.

To All,

This is the way I see it:

Most here on the Tava thread don't need this but I'm going to say it anyway. Once I saw a one eyed pink monster in the distance but as I got closer I could see it was not a monster at all it was just a man with his head stuck in the sand baking his brains.

Buy the Bid, Sell the Ask. "Yes you can do that just use limit orders"

When you see the bid thats just what it is, people like you and I offering to buy it at that price.
When you see the ask its people like you and me selling for a profit and naked shorters selling stock that they don't own in hopes of buying it back at a lower price from stock owners like you and I.

I have read every post on this thread and if the past is any indication of the future when the shorts announce that they are here they are covering and we are getting ready to move up. You can sell to shorters now at the bid or you can sell to them later at the ask.

The real problem as I see it is EMBEDDED CHIPS not naked shorters.

Just My opinions. I'm buying the Bid.
