They must read our thread/board:

Hey all, I have a question.

I placed a large (for me) market order to buy at the open. The opening price was 19 13/16. The price that I received was 20 3/8, a HUGE discrepency in my mind, and $500 out of pocket.

Is this common? My order was executed 3 minutes after the market open, at 9:32 and 53 seconds. I feel robbed and cheated by my brokerage house, despite the fact that they didn't charge me a $10 commission. (No, they charged me a $500 commission. I have contacted them, and they say they are looking into it.

Can anybody tell me the best way to deal with this? If they don't "make up the difference" which I doubt the will, I am going to be EXTREMELY tempted to go to the SEC. I really am not fond of government, but every once in awhile, maybe they are needed.

For the record, I use a well known on-line brokerage.

Thanks ANYBODY,
Richard
