Well, Richard, I think you are more than likely wrong. Think about it this way. The stock closed at 19 3/8 and the opening today was at 19 13/16... this means there was a good deal of investors willing to "line up" at the offering. Now, the fact that it took 3 minutes to execute your trade was more than likely attributable to not having enough shares available to be sold in order to meet all of the buyers at the open. As shares became available, your order was executed.

However, I'm not sure which market Datek bought the shares on, either. Many of the low cost, no-frils online trading firms will buy shares "off the exchange" in order to make more money for themselves. I mean, really, you don't think they just make $10 a trade--do you? That's a huge misconception that many investors have. They think they're saving money by paying a $10 commission...HA! That's not quite the way it works. You can bet Datek is raking in anywhere from 1/8 to 1/2 point everytime they make a trade as the market maker or specialist.

I agree. Have them break the trade. You should get the opening price, which I also show at 19 13/16. I checked my tools and that's what it opened at...
