Ken:

I don't scan for stocks within IRL groups, though others might. I scan the whole database for all sorts of things, usually beginning with stocks above a certain price and with high average volume to narrow things down a bit. You can scan for breakouts, stocks reaching new highs, stocks breaking through resistance, MACD crossovers, percentage gainers, Canslim stocks, stocks with good fundies -- whatever. It's up to you. It doesn't depend on the profiles you've created, since you can output new lists or create new Virtual directories of stocks based on what the scans find. You might want to create a new general profile in QP Virtual, with no stocks in it at first, where you can send scan lists -- or you can output the lists to Metastock directories.

I don't pay much attention to industries, and don't plan on putting data into IRL format. Price/volume and the measures thereof is king. A canslim type of filter will give you good earnings and QRS>80 but then you have to decide who you are - KNOW YOUSELF.

You want to hold a stock for 5 days, 5 weeks, 5 months? How much time can you allot to market? What are your set beliefs on the market? How much risk will you take? Will you bottom fish or play breakouts? on and on until you know what you want to do, then look for a system/indicator to call your actions for you?

There is no one answer.

Ken,

I am still tryiong to come up with a model for IRL.

I run multiple scans every night. Most of which can be found on brookes site. Lots of examples of a nightly routine in my batch file package. It basically shows what I do...

To All...

Mystery! I have been getting my nightly downloads this week just fine. This morning I was looking at some random charts in WOW and realized that the last update was for 6/15/98.

I quickly went to QP2 and looked up the same charts. They all showed updates through yesterday, as they should.

What is causing WOW not to see updates for Tuesday and Wednesday? I noticed all symbols in that (and others) directory in WOW all showed the last update was 6/15. Ideas???
