AUSTIN, Texas, June 17 /PRNewswire/ -- iDOT.com today announced a $200 reduction on its award-winning, top-of-the-line 400BX model, lowering the threshold price for a 400MHz Intel PentiumII-powered PC to $1,699. The $1,699 mid-tower configuration features premium components, including Intel's most powerful processor, an 8.4GB IBM Ultra DMA hard drive and 64MB of SDRAM memory. The base configuration also includes an 8MB Intel i740 2X AGP graphics accelerator, 56Kbps capable modem, 36X variable-speed CD-ROM drive, Aztech Labs A3D Interactive Positional 3D audio, Altec Lansing ACS43 speakers, Windows 95, Netscape Communicator standard edition and on-site service for one year. Configured with a 17-inch monitor, the price for an iDOT.com 400BX is $1,898. The system recently earned a "Best Buy" award from PC Today based on a comparative review of 400MHz systems submitted by Compaq, Micron and five others. The review is featured in the magazine's July issue. In addition, iDOT.com announced that its popular 266LXC model -- based on the 266MHz Intel Celeron processor -- is now priced at $999 including a 15-inch monitor. Previously, the $999 price did not include a monitor. "These industry-leading price points for premium-quality PCs are the result of cost advantages found only in iDOT.com's Internet-only, 'next- generation direct' business model," said Neil Bremner, iDOT.com's executive vice president. Available via iDOT.com's virtual storefront, idot.com, the company's products are in synch with Intel's technology roadmap. Aimed at sophisticated users, iDOT.com systems can be built to order or purchased in pre-set configurations. iDOT.com also offers PC bundles optimized for small businesses, college students and serious gamers. In addition, for a limited time, buyers of iDOT.com systems can purchase monitors at significant savings: $99 for a 15 inch (13.9 v.i.s.); $199 for a 17 inch (16.1 v.i.s.) and $499 for a 19 inch (18 v.i.s.). All iDOT.com systems include one year of on-site service, a five-year warranty on the processor and main memory, and three years on other components.
