Sega will be introducing a new game machine, probably still with a VLSI chip set:

exchange2000.com

Sega Enterprises Ltd. plans to market a new video game machine in the later half of 1998. That game machine is powered by Hitachi Ltd.'s SH series devices.

VLSI licenses the SH series from Hitachi (and works with them extensively), and so I would assume this is referring to an Hitachi core in a VLSI ASIC chip set. This is good news since Sega was getting killed by the more powerful Sony and Nintendo games.

Hmm, kinda like VLSI going up on strong volume in the face of SOX down:

Jim: Thx for that clip on the prices of the Semis. The fact VLSI's price action was contrary indicates that it has something going for it. There is evidence of a new wireless chipset and a DVD chipset etc

My fear is that none of these will make an impact this Q. To this extent there is a definite downside risk. Perhaps a stop loss or hedge may be the best strategy.

Perhaps those more bullish may wish to respond.

Regards.
