32. The Godfather, Part II, 1974
53. Amadeus, 1984
62. Tootsie, 1982
65. The Silence of the Lambs, 1991
75. Dances With Wolves, 1990
94. Goodfellas, 1990
98. Unforgiven, 1992

Alright, when I look at these movies, I just don't think...ooooh, greatest movie ever made. I had problems with E.T. too, I don't think it is one of the greatest movies ever made, but it was original for its time so I'll leave it. Godfather part II was not as good as part I, and (imo) diminished the power of the original. Amadeus was good, and I enjoyed it, but when I think of European movies that have dealt with artists, I have a VERY hard time putting Amadeus on a "best of" list. Tootsie I really like, but aside from squeezing Dustin Hoffman into a dress, I am not sure why it should be on a best movie list. Maybe I just don't rate that kind of comedy highly enough- so perhaps Tootsie belongs. Silence of the Lambs though? I don't think so. The book wasn't even that good and the slick movie was even less original. Creepy yes, but I don't see any Freddy Krueger movies on the list, and he is probably an even more seminal pop culture icon than Hannibal Lechter. Dances with Wolves- ridiculously over-rated. Again a watchable movie but the GREATEST? Unforgiven, is not even the best Eastwood film- I would say High Plains Drifter, Dirty Harry, Fistful of dollars, For a Few Dollars More, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, or Hang 'Em High- not that Eastwoods early movies aren't rough but they have more heart and originality than Unforgiven. And Goodfellas, well we'd seen that already, right? What was Mean Streets about, and Godfather- not that you can't make more wise guy flicks, but they are bound to be a little derivative, unless you are, say, making Pulp Fiction. Actually, I am not sure why Forest Gump is on the list either. The idea was a little like Zelig (a Woody Allen film) and the story just wasn't either believable or utterly compelling.

Okay...

Here are a few I might put on the list instead of the above-

The Good Earth
Hannah and her Sisters
Touch of Evil
All About Eve
Blazing Saddles
Young Frankenstein
tHE Big Sleep
The Conversation
West side Story
Cabaret
Taxi Driver
You Can't Cheat an Honest Man
Witness for the Prosecution (I think this was american, Billy wilder directed)
the Ten Commandments

I can think of a bunch more, but I'll leave it at this.
