Tippet; When AMD gets it's book FA back to were it was in 96 ,
if it ever does again then I will jump in Semis. I bought
her back in 96 at 10.25 , when she was $8 below her book value.
I sold her to soon but , but I didn't lose money. :-)
Since 96 she has not only hasn't made any profit, but has
actually lost in BOOK value.

NSM may have some hope if she gets her books in order,
and drops to about $12.
Another trick to these is check the short interest,
buy when the sector starts up, the one with the most
short interest percentage wise.
BTW percentage wise..from mid 96, and before the down turn AMD made share holders much more money than INTC with all her hype.

>> I think this intervention business will only work for a very short period of time and then we retest the lows in Asia and perhaps our
market here gets a real adjustment, BWDIK. <<

I was disheartened to see the U.S. step in and intervene. They are only prolonging the inevitable. This intervention makes things messier though it does give the markets in Asia, and apparently in the USA a boost.

Currency traders may be scared off in the short term but the attacks on the yen will resume in force when the intervention wears down.

On another note, does anyone know the status of the purported $1 billion in puts that Soros bought against the British pound? Will he break the Bank of England again?
