Hello! I'm posting from my vacation spot. Anyone see AMZN lately? Anyway, I see that no one took my advice to sell into the IOM sucker rally last week (2 weeks ago?). Looks like the same old pipe dreams are living on! I fell out of my chair when I read this one: << It's simply a matter of time before the steady adoption of zip internals provides the revenues to elevate the stock price. And with 6Sigma driving down production costs we have 2 important elements combining to return the company to profitability. When that happens IOM won't be such a great buyout candidate, will it? There's a full court press going on to make Zip standard. The winner inherits a tremendous revenue stream that cannot be ignored by the street. >> First of all, IOMEGA themselves stated that one of the reasons they are losing money is the increase of OEM vs. aftermarket sales. As ZIP internals gain, IOM will just lose more money. Do you think the people who buy a computer with this drive in it will go out and buy a giga-pack? Shoot.. half will try to stick their floppies in the slot! I keep telling you guys: Who cares if this drive is the 'standard'? This concept means nothing. About CLIK! What I see is Iomega de-focusing on a large market and re-targeting toward a niche market... Also, there is some overlap between the ZIP and the CLIK! device functionality. Therefore, I see IOM losing a pile of money as this device comes out and well after it as ZIP continues to tail off. (IOM said themselves that the startup costs of CLIK! could have a material effect on the company. Check out the Edgar filings... Also, we will see $600 PCs by Christmas... No ZIPs in those puppies... The computer industry is rapidly changing toward very cheap PCs. ZIP is being priced out by the market. C'mon, guys! There are much, much better fish out there... (about your 6 sigma argument. Total BS. 6 sigma is a quality concept and tends to make products MORE expensive. KE was skimping here in the past (IMO) to attempt cost cutting.) I won't even wish those who are left luck anymore... You need MUCH, MUCH more than that... kp
