Sun Microsystems says strong dollar to impact revenue
Wednesday June 17, 11:47 pm Eastern Time

TOKYO, June 18 (Reuters) - Sun Microsystems Inc chief operating officer Ed Zander told a news conference on Thursday that the strong dollar and currency fluctuations would impact the company's revenues in the fourth quarter, as they did in the third quarter.
''We do not plan the year at 140 yen. It (the weak yen) does have an impact,'' Zander said.

Sun Microsystems reported higher profit for the third quarter in April despite a hit to revenues from currency fluctuations and the slowdown in Asia.

''We expect the same thing to happen this quarter,'' Zander said.

Zander also said Sun was concerned about the situation with China's currency, the yuan.

The fall in the yen is widely seen as heaping pressure on the yuan, but Chinese officials have repeatedly said they will not devalue the currency.
