ole 49r - Thanks for taking the time and effort to explain the gold futures market. One thing you said hit the nail on the head: "This is a simplistic view of the futures market."

I was taking a very simplistic view. Much vitriol has been directed at Mung (Munk?) of Barrick, and other execs who are responsible for mining companies selling forward. So I thought, if those forward sales by miners were the problem, why should they not just buy back all the contracts at a profit and go on from there. Of course I knew there had to be more to it than that.
