Re: Didn't LU file a similar suit before, but against another company?
About a year ago against Newbridge, also ATM suit. Newbridge said it is defending vigorously and claiming that the Lucent suit is without merit. I have not heard anything. There has not yet been an announcement of a resolution.

Yeah,

It appears that LU doesn't think they can compete with Cisco. Looks like they're trying to slow down the Cisco train through diversionary tactics. Poor little LU doesn't want to come out and play cuz that big bad bully Cisco is out on the street.

Let's face it...it's not like Cisco all of the sudden launched a bunch of products that infringe on all these LU patents. It's clear these products have been on the market for ages. Now LU finds themselves on the same ball field as this juggernaut and realizes it can't compete on its own technology and business merits. So, it sends a bunch of engineers out to analyze and potentially reverse engineer the entire Cisco product line in an effort to find anything they can to launch a suit. They say they have found 7? patent violations? Sounds like sour grapes. Question though - has LU built any of their own products with this technology ...software or hardware? Does a company lose patent right if they don't adopt the underlying technology in the patent after x number of years?
