At the end of the day I would have thought no one cares where the get their modem/NIC from as long as it's cheap. Being able to influence traffic precedence on a MODEM is a new concept who's doing that? Now its possible to do this for sure with 3Com's new NIC drivers but they don't have a carrier ATM/IP switch that can do anything with it. Perhaps this from the NN thread may point to something.
