Brooke...

Another box of chocolates is on the way!

The manual seems to leave me scratching my head. I've never had software that did anything like this stuff. The approaches are totally different, etc.

Your note suddenly caused me to realize what the devil a "list" was for. I just went over and ran a simple scan, produced that list, then moved it into a Profile. I haven't looked at it with WOW yet, but I'm sure that worked.

Now, I take it that I can do this several times a night, if I so choose, dumping/burning profiles as I go if I decide I don't like them after looking at them. Is this right?

One thing that I definitely don't like, so far, is the necessity to reboot my machine everytime I create a new profile. Surely there has to be a way to avoid this PIA coming down the pipeline (I really hope).

BTW... I don't mind this stuff being arcane, as long as I'm one of the insiders with the "knowledge".<G>

Ken

I am sure I am way behind the curve on this discussion of Virtual Files, but I just rec'd my CD yesterday.

Anyway, I downloaded the QP2virtual.exe file from the website and tried to install it but it aborted with the message that "this file is for ver 1.04.1" or something like that. So I check my ver of QP2 and it says I have ver 2,0,0,0. Next I check my manual and find the following instructions:

"The Virtual Program allows you to create virtual files that can be read by any Metastock-compatible application. The Virtual Program runs only under Windows 95. To install the Virtual Program:

1.Insert the program CD into your CD ROM drive. The installation program will start up automatically; you will see a screen with buttons labeled Setup Release 2.0 and Setup Virtual. If this screen does not appear, click on the Windows 95 Start button; select Run. In the Run dialog box, D:\SetupR2.EXE (where D is the letter for your CD ROM drive.).
2.Select Setup Virtual . A welcome screen will be displayed. (You may cancel the installation at any time by clicking Cancel.) To continue the installation, click Next."

When I try this, I do not have an option to "Setup Virtual".

Any ideas?

Monty

My patience is really getting short. This plus the problem with data between QP1 not agreeing with QP2 and neither agreeing with other souces of data. Hope all this gets resolved!

Brooke, Sorry to bother you again but I have referred to the "Trusty Help File" and the "Trusty Manual" and cannot find answer to a "Virtual" problem. <ggg>

I installed QP2 Virtual, setup a Profile, and dragged & dropped a list to the virtual directory. When I try to view a chart I get an error message in Meta Stock (or MS Downloader for that matter) which says "END OF FILE".

Any help appreciated! I am sure this is DUMBA but I am DUMBA!(Right Spots?)

Monty
