In times of economic worries, investors want a stock they can dump fast with the least amount of loss. Large caps with high volumes fit this picture. A small caps price goes down fast when people start dumping stock. The other side of the coin is people buy solid depressed small caps after they dump the big names and are looking to reinvest. This is some times viewed as the last stages of a Bull market. I have been doing some reading on the subject. The words are mine but the theory is in tack. I don't know that what I read is correct, but it makes sense as an investment strategy. I have been looking at some small caps and find the prices are down. Can't say that I have found any below book value. Would you care to share those stocks with me?
